Clock Words
Clock time uses an adapted Spanish system with Spanish numbers.
time / hour - oras, takna (deep Hiligaynon, rare)
minute - minuto
second - segundo
The word "alas" is used as a time label. Before saying the time, you would say "alas" first.
8:00 - alas otso
9:00 - alas nuwebe
9:30 - alas nuwebe medya
10:00 - alas dyes
10:05 - alas dyes singko
12:00 - alas dose
1:00 - ala una
"Medya" indicates that it's halfway to the next hour.
If the hour is 1, you would say "ala," instead of "alas," and "una," instead of "uno."
"What time is it?" — "Ano'ng oras?" (short for, "Ano ang oras?")
